If you go to the main forum page, index.php there are links to Habitat (in and outdoor), General Care, and Feeding & Nutrition, even one for Urgent Care. These will get you started. If you are looking for some specifics you can start a thread on one of those to ask for more information, but we are going to need a little more feedback from you to know how dire the situation is. Pictures help as well to tell the condition of the turtles as far as their skin, shell, and eyes. As a species they are very strong creatures with their tough skin and hard shells (not saying they are indestructible), but if neglected they can develop many illnesses that can weaken those traits. The eyes are the most sensitive part of them. If exposed to prolonged unclean or contaminated habitats they can develop infections that in turn can lead to death. If that pump/filter is giving you trouble, try to look up the manual online to help you get it in working order, if you can't get it working you need a replacement or you will have to change the water daily. Standing water is no good... But you have definitely come to the right place, there is a lot of good advice and experience to find here. Take advantage of the search option too, this might help weed through it a bit. I hope you find the help you need. Good luck and welcome to the community. :)

JNUTPRINCESS I don't understand why you would breed RES in the first place, if you had eggs you should have destroyed them clearly since you went ahead and released them in the WILD?

I mean seriously that is one thing you SHOULD not do at ALL! Do you know that it is ILLEGAL to do that? Idk why people don't do their research before acquiring pets. Do you know that your captive bred RES could harbor diseases/parasites not identified by you that could be passed on to the rest of the population in the wild! Once you have chosen to take on a pet, more so actually responsible for its sole existence you should take care of it there is no other way around. You could have atleast try to put them up for adoption, it might take some work but you could have found them a suitable home. Your released turtles are more likely to turn into a meal for predators, starve and die or catch a disease ( if they don't have any to start with ) since they are not used to a harsh/wild environment. I can keep going on and on how this is so unacceptable and inhumane. Please DO NOT breed any more turtles, if you see any more eggs do everyone a favor and destroy them.

I tried every way to put them up for adoption. I tried every local rescue or wildlife center and no one would take them as they were overrun. THEY suggested I acclimate them to fish and meal worms only, to get used to the diet, which I did. Also to get them used to the local environment, which I did. Then, I released them to an isolated large pond near my brother's home out in the country. I spent more than a year trying to find homes for them, no body wanted them... I only finally gave them up, after much heartache, when I started to face that I couldn't take care of them on my own... And I must not be as strong as most people, I should have destroyed the eggs, but my stupid motherly instinct got in the way and I couldn't do so! I'm tired of explaining myself to you hurtful people... I came here for support and advice, not judgement and harassment... I apparently came to the wrong place...
