We are talking both turtles were left unattended under this light for less than 15 minutes. Both times it was very quick. Tatal, this actually worked out better when the temps were at 105.

Generic I suppose. Bought at petsmart, does have the white paint inside. I don't know either. I switched to a 24 watt long reptiglo or reptisun10w uvb/uva. For heat, I am going to go a regular 60 watt incandescent bulb?

I forgot to answer the other question. My house is air conditioned and it stays at 68 degrees all year round.

You can pretty much use any heat bulb even a regular household bulb can be used from what I've read, If I were you I'd just get any reptile heat bulb they are pretty cheap. if you ever turn the air off make sure you adjust the height. Although I'm not sure if that is still going to be a concern since you're not using an MVB anymore.

Hello everyone, I am a new turtle owner. My name is Mike. I recently purchased a RES at Petco. I have a 40 gallon tank for my turtle who I named Squirt. I'm not really sure how to tell the age of the turtle or even if it is a male or female and Petco didn't really tell me how to care for the turtle so I did some research and found this website. I will be looking at these forums as much as I can to try and learn and be a good turtle owner. Especially since it appears that I am having some issues with my turtle. Mainly that it wont go on basking rock unless it is late at night and no one is up and walking around. Also it won't eat anything besides the shrimp that came with my kit that I bought.
