Hi, new to the board. I have been researching topics on releasing my RES's into the "wild" and have read on so many conflicting opinions. I have 2 RES's for about 5 years now. I live in a small apartment and they are in 2 tanks.. My big one is in the bigger tank and the smaller one about half the size. My big one is about a foot long and the littler guy is about 8in.. They are separated for about 3+ years now because the big one was biting the little guy pretty badly. Its got to the point where they are just laying around in crappy tanks doing nothing and i feel bad. I know a woman in upstate NY who owns a small petting zoo with a nice sized pond on her farm/private property. There is a snapping turtle and some painted turtles in it as well. She said i can release them here.. Please dont bash me by thinking of this option if its totally not doable.. Thats why i am posting, to get some clarity on releasing them and if would do so, would this pond be a bad idea. I just feel they are not living a good turtle life sitting in tanks all day. If this isnt a good idea at all, if a horrible idea, then what can i do to give them a more fulfilling and stimulating life?
Thanks
