Howdy there! My boyfriend and I currently have 2 RES turtles, Michelangelo and Raphael(or Mikey and Raph for short.) Along with them, we have 5 cats and 2 dogs(Yeah, we really love animals. ^-^ )
We're very fond of our turtles, though we're still learning. We got them over the summer in Georgia, but when we bought them, we didn't know they were illegally sold. :C Had we known, we would've gotten them legally. Despite being illegal, we're glad we've added the to our family. I think they're pretty happy with their new home in a 20 gal tank rather than crammed in a 10 gal tank with 20 other RES.
Since getting them, they've grown a couple inches, but I haven't measured them recently. Eyeballing it, I'd say Raph is about 1.5" and Mikey is 1"
Raphael really lives up to his name. He tends to climb on top of Mikey, kick him in the face, and push him off the basking dock. Though he looks out for him. He also loves to hog the basking dock, nip at nearly everything in the tank(even the sealant keeping it together,) and climb everything(the filter included.)
Michelangelo is a bit more docile, even a bit more...Sickly. He tends to get sick and is in the process of overcoming a cold(he's stopped sneezing, his appetite has doubled, though he still wheezes a little, but only when we hold him.) He doesn't mind Raph's bullying, if anything I think he might even like it! Except when Raph gets a claw in Mikey's eye(ouch!) We make sure to keep a close watch on them.
