hey folks i have 2 male res . their names are SOUP and DUMPLING.SOUP is 3or 4 years old DUMPLING is a newbie 5 to 6 months .they are the best pets ever.Mine are better than a dog Id like to know if its to let them roam about the house ? Soup likes to bask in the morning sometimes hours while basking he allows me to scratch and rub his shell and under his beak. HE also lets me handle all his feet and even his tail.about 1 or 2 every afternoon I let him wander and eventually after an hour of sitting on my lap or crawling about he takes off and goes to sleep behind a bookshelf.I never have had to look for him is it his spot.he pops out 3 0r 4 times and doesnt seeem to want anything except to be noticed.he comes and gets his belly scratched from me then goes back to sleep ,i leave him out until he wants back in the tank or until 10pm is that too long to leave him be? this guy is just the coolest i will post photos if i can figure it out

I know a lot of owners that let them wander the house. Mine never have. I wouldn't recommend leaving him out all day, they are aquatic animals. They also need to bask under UVA/B to regulate body heat and to help with growth and shedding.
