I just joined the site, i figured i might as well since i am on it all the time with questions about my new baby turtles lol.

I have two baby RES both girls, their names are Doris and Sandy. I got Doris first about 5 months ago and she is now almost 3 inches!. I got Sandy like 2-3 months ago so Doris wouldn't be lonely and they get along GREAT! Sandy is less than 2 inches wide. They are still lil babies, and i love them so much!! My family calls me crazy cuz i love to talk to them and see how excited Doris gets, even tho i know she is just begging for food lol. Sandy is more shy, she hides as soon as she sees someone lol.

I have them in a 25-30 gallon tank, usually alwlays feed them frozen crickets and pellets. I sometimes buy them small fish, the feeder fish tend to die as soon as i put them in the tank idk why =[. But thats the only time my turtles eat them anyways. They're too lazy to hunt (or too lil?) they try for about an hour and just give up and beg me for crickets. I have also tried to give them small pieces of bananas, or lettuce, and they dont like that either. They love crickets the most, except the heads they always leave me that to clean lol, Its really hard to introduce them to new foods to get a larger amount of nutrition when they only want frozen crickets and worms. Maybe someone can tell me what im doing wrong...? For the past 3 days i have them in the tank with 7 goldfish, and i havent been feeding them at all hoping they will get hungry enough to eventually hunt a fish. these are really small fish, not the feeder fish just a tiny bit fatter. like i said they tried to catch them when i first put them in and now dont even care that they are there =/

here's some pics of Doris and Sandy =D

Hi, welcome to the site! Your turtles are too young to determine the sex, and Doris appears to be getting too much food. I would feed them pellets separately and carefully monitor their intake. In fact, I would sort out the food (a new pillbox is great for this purpose) and be strict with their diet.

They've probably given up trying to catch the fish and are waiting for a more opportune time.
