Hello All!

I've been raising RES's for about two and a half years nows and I've had the same problem, I'm sure all of you may have had, finding a DECENT filter. I'm heading out the door to purchase a canister filter, yet again, but I wondered if anyone had experience with them/had any advice. I'm temporarily taking care of/turtle sitting 6 (ranging in age from 3yrs - 7months old). I have the larger ones in a 40 gallon tank and the smaller few in a 10 gallon until their respective owners come back from vacation. But i digress, does anyone have any advice about which type of filter to get. It'll be used in a 40 gallon tank.

Hi, welcome to the site. I'd look into a Fluval 405 or XP3. If you're under a tight budget, look into those canister that are sold on eBay.

XP3 - better filter and less expensive than the 405. Also in that price range is the penn plax cascade 1200.

(online prices in USD)
Penn Plax 1200 - $130
Fluval 406 - $158
Rena XP3 - $130

The XP3 is the best choice of the 3. Welcome to the forum!!
