Welcome, there is a lot to learn. Starting with habitat. Don't start buying a bunch of stuff, until you understand what it will need long term. It is better to spend more now than have to keep upgrading as it gets bigger.
My recommendation is to buy way more filtration capacity than you think you will ever need, don't go by the recommendations of the filter manufacturer for how many gallon tank it is good for (and mentally subtracting the gallons you aren't putting in there because you only filled it halfway), or if you do, go by the actual size of your tank and multiply it by 2 or 3 and buy that size filter. Canister filters are the best for turtles because they are very flexible with the media and they take up very little space inside the tank, they also allow for better capacity to run low water levels. You can also usually adjust the flow rate on the better ones so you can set it just right for your tank environment.
