Well, hey there! :D

I just got a couple of RES tonight and I'm starting to like them more and more. They were for my bf, but you know, they may just end up totally mine before long.

Anyway, I've been doing my research and will be moving them into my 55gallon within the next couple of weeks. See, I keep hermit crabs and am in the process of building a custom crabitat. Once my crabs are moved over, I'll have the 55gal free for the turtles. Hopefully have that all cured and set within the next couple of weeks. Until then, my RES will have to be in the 10gal that was given to me when I got them.

It's not much right now, but I have to work with what I've got.

I do have a question, though. When you feed them - do you put their food in the water or on the dry part?

I think that's it for now. If I have anything else I'll post them in the proper areas.
I'll leave you with a couple of pictures.

This is how they were given to me.

Lol. He was sleeping like this until I took the picture and woke him up. Of course, I have no idea if it's actually a male or female.

I have a lot of things to improve on, but I think when I get them moved over and all set up they'll be happy. I'm already working on plans for how to maximize space in the 55gal. Super excited.

Hi, welcome to the site! They need to be in water to eat (they don't produce saliva) but they can take food off land and bring it into the water.

The one in the last pic is a male. Do keep in mind that males can be very aggressive toward other males or females, so separation is usually the result.

Ah, thanks! :)

I thought that one was a male, but wasn't totally sure.
