I am new to the turtle loving world. I acquired my new baby two evenings ago and have been on an information gathering rampage. I stumbled upon this site in my search and am so glad I did.
My turtle came to me the other evening during dinner making prep. I happened to look over at my cat by the screen patio door and saw what I thought at first was a rather large spider/bug running across the patio. Nope... It was a tiny turtle. I jumped outside and scooped it up. I normally would have just caught it, let my 3 year old look at it and then released it the next morning. Reason being we decided to keep it is the over abundance of herons in our area. We're still trying to figure out how it got into the backyard. There are two retention ponds over a mile away and this little one is so small. So we set up a tank and the turtle seems to be doing fine.
I've got a bit more research to do and I may find I have a few questions later. Until then, enjoy a picture of our tiny addition.
