hi everyone. my name is Loola. i have a cute story about how i obtaianed my new friend. i have 2 children, one is a 6 year old girl. somehow she convinced her mom to agree that she could have a pet. my lil girl and i wanted fish, mom said no. so my wife tells me she is going to buy her a bird. i really didnt want a bird for certain reasons. so........somehow a puppy came up. even though we have 2 dogs now....lol. so my daughter and i went to the animal shelter. we found a dog, but it was too big, and had many people intrested allready. so we left empty handed. on our way out the pakring lot/driveway i saw something small in the road and slowed and stopped. i got out to see a little turtle. i looked around and saw the pond it probably came from, but was traveling in the opposite direction. i should have let it free into the pond area, but couldnt resist showing my daughter and asking her if she wanted it as a pet. she said yes of course.
so, on the way to pet smart we go. i braught the turtle into the store not knowing its exact species. i baught a uv/heat bulbs, a floating dock, rocks, and food pellets. i also picked up romaine lettuce. then i went to my brothers and he gave me a 30 gall fish tank. i cleaned it well and put it all together. i allowed the water to clear up some before introducing the turtle. the ph was 6.9. the turtle has been in there for a hour or so. i hope he or she makes it.
well thats my story and i am really exited about having a turtle. i want to learn so much more. i know i may not have the perfect habitat, so please comments welcome. i will post pictures soon. oh....by the way the turtles shell is about 2" front to back. not sure if its a girl or a boy yet either.
