Hey guys, thanks for all ur help i have already received and the help im going to get =), Im 16, (just turned 16 march 11th), i live in michigan, and i bought 2 turtles =), I was thinking of naming them but im not sure, cause their young and i cant tell the sex on them. Maybe i would name them:

1. Crush
2. Squirt
3. Sheldon
4. Shelly

Umm im not too sure, but their baby's =) i just got them from the pet store saturday for 45 dollars, he said one of them is a RES and one is a painted, but imo they both look like RES to me. I think i have a male and a female, (hopefully, so they can mate.)

I'm having a wee laugh over your naming dilemna... I went through the same thing about 3 years ago. I decided to name my 3 and it turns out I gave 2 appropriate names but Timmy the Turtle turned out to be a girl! Sheldon and Sherman are both boys so that turned out ok. Hey, 2 out of 3 aint bad! I'm not overly concerned about it because they don't actually know their names so Timmy takes no offense.

At the time I did wonder how many turtles out there are called Sheldon as it seems such a perfect name for a turtle. I like your idea of shelly or sheldon. If you call one sheldon for example later on you can shorten to shelly if the turt turns out to be a girl.

P.s Sherman is named after the american tank of the same name (they are both mobile and armoured and it goes well with Sheldon). Timmy nearly got called Touche Turtle after the cartoon character but my now ex fiancee put her foot down and insisted Touche was no name for a turtle.
