I have been a member for few years but haven't posted for a really long time so I figured I'd re-introduce myself. My name is Heather and I am a Vet Assistant/Pet Groomer for my dad who is a Veterinarian. I got my first RES Zeke 4 years ago (He's going to be 9 years old next week) when I was at Petco doing cat adoptions someone brought him and his tiny tank in (it was like 20 gallon turtle tank so only like 12 gallons of actual water) and he was 7" at the time! EEK! So I did some research and learned he need MUCH better care and learned a ton about RES. Well yesterday I rescued another RES, Rudie who is a 4-5 year old RES. She too has one of the icky turtle tanks, hers was 30 gallon but only about 15 if that for water. She didn't have proper care either, no basking light, pyramiding of her shell, probably shell rot (my Vet is going to check her out today). For now she is in a 30 gallon tank (a spare I had) and I am making an above tank basking dock, until I can get a bigger tank for her, but I figure 30 gallons is better than 15. I also have 5 cats (DeeJay, Mini Dee, Munchie, Mercedes & Tigglet), 3 dogs (Zoey Chihuahua, Ziva, Miniature Pinscher, Shellie, Golden Retriever). Anyways I'm glad to be back and hopefully will be able to post more often lol.
