My 5yr old daughter got a RES for christmas yesterday from her grandmother. I got 2 days prior warning of the turtle but had little time to get what I needed in terms of info. I knew it would be my responsibility as obviously my daughter is far too young.
The beautiful apparently female 3 yr old turtle arrived yesterday (christmas day) with a small tank, submersible water heater and a filter. She is an unwanted pet and has never had a heat lamp or UV B/A lights in her enclosure. She has flaky skin and a penchant for rubbing her shell under whatever she can find.
So anyway now I have to go out and get a bigger tank, a UV B/A light (hideously overpriced here in NZ), calcium cuttlefish block, thermometer, and a heat lamp
I am keen as mustard to make her new home perfect, not exactly rolling in cash but ready to spend.
