Hello there everyone! My name is Jacque (pronounced like "Jackie").
I don't have a RES at this point in time, but I used to! It was a few years ago, and I was at my brothers camp site on the river and we seen some kids doing something on the bank. I walked over to see what they were doing and they were SMASHING newly hatched RES babies!

We saved the last 2. I took one, and my brothers mother-in-law took the other. She took the one that a kid had stepped on, and he unfortunately died.

I kept the one that the kids hadn't done anything to. (They had them in a small cardboard box before they smashed them) I didn't know anything about RES, but I did the best that I could by little Slowpoke Rodriguez. He lived in a small-ish tub with a lid. I gave him a place to come out of the water and a small amount of water. We had him for about a year and he went from about the size of a quarter to about the size of the palm of my hand. My son decided that it wasn't fair that Slowpoke didn't have a family, so, we took him to the pond in the park and let him go. Looking back, it probably wasn't the best idea, but, I didn't know what else to do at that point in time.
So, basically, I'm here to learn the right way to take care of one BEFORE I get one. I look forward to learning and then HAVING another RES!
