Hi, welcome to the site. The 13yrs rule is mainly COPPA - Children's Online Privacy Protection Act

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children's ... ection_Act

There is also the notion that a 13 year old probably shouldn't be the primary keeper of a pet like RES... they can even be expensive and time consuming for adults!

Thanks for the info. I had no idea people thought of turtles as sutch. But im assuming there breeders or have more than 5. Because as far as i can tell (and ive housed several animals) it isnt very expensive to own one. But that may just be me. Thanks for the welcome though!

It'll start to add up when you are upgrading tanks, filters and using more sophisticated lighting. Possible vet bills can really become an issue, so hopefully everyone stays healthy. :)
