I have one very large red eared slider. I bought her has a hatchling (illegally I suppose) in China Town, LA while I was in college. About 5 years later, I now have a 8 inch turtle, who I named after a male college professor, but who has since proven herself to be a she. So we call her "turtle" most of the time. Even though she has outgrown her aquarium (which she successfully climbed out of) and I have to keep her in a plastic tub that I think is horribly tacky, I love her anyway.
She is incredibly 'personable,' as personable as a turtle can be. She comes right up to you in the water, and swims after you for food.
