Hi,

I am a new turtle parent with two babies. While I have cared for pets most of my life, this is the first time that I have ever had an exotic pet. Cats and dogs have been my mainstay, and for the last 3 years I have kept freshwater fish, both coldwater and tropical. I have always liked turtles and have just recently acquired two hatchling RES. As of yet they are still unnamed, we just call them both the babies.

They are both very skiddish, and I wonder at times if I didn't get chickens that live in water instead of turtles. Everyonce in awhile they get cocky and act like they are challenging us or the cat.

Thanks for having this wonderful website and forum.

welcome to a great turtle place. As they get older they will become much less skittish. My two babies used to scurry like a flash but now they barely open their eyes when I come by.
I have two female red ear sliders.
Chimpy - 5.5 inches
Chompy- 6.0 inches
Both were born about 7/2007
Got them -- 9/2007
