Very happy to of found this forum.
My RES, King Solomon the II (there was no first – just to make that clear), is heading onto 3 years old, and has somehow survived all the dodgy advise I have been given by the pet shops here.
King Solomon the II was given to me as a present about 2.5years ago when his original owner left the country. He was tiny back then and lived in rubbish plastic pond/tray, complete with plastic palm tree. Only after he escaped for 5 days (in the middle of summer), did I realize that this was not the optimal habitate for him.
After visiting a pet store here I was sold a 40lt tank, complete with full hood, no lighting and small gravel – which I was told was optimal for him.
This year I have upgraded his tank to 120lt, along with an external filter and a proper light source. He seems to be much happier in this environment!
