My son has decided he wants to get a RES. So the research begins. I'm 35 and from Mass. This will be our 1st turtle. We do have a 30 gal fish tank and a 125 gal fish tank. The slider will start off in a 55. Ok gotta go and start reading threads.

Greetings and good luck with your future turtle endeavor.

The main site (http://www.redearslider.com/) will tell you everything you need to know, and the forum is the best place for real world experiance.

Do you know where you're going to get your RES from? I started out with two hatchlings, ordered them both from the same internet supplier. Some companies are better than others, I've only ever dealt with one but you can ask around for advice.

Out of every 100 men, ten shouldn't even be there. Eighty are just targets. Nine are the real fighters and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Oh, but one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back. -Heraclitus of Ephesus

No I'm not sure where I'm getting it from yet. I still need to research that part. Where do you get yours?

The website I got mine from is thought of so poorly by some members here that the name was removed from a thread not too long ago. Research shows that they have a generally negative reputation, however, my experiance with them was fine. I'll send you a private message.

Otherwise a google search of RES for adoption will yield great results. I must say, if I bought another turtle online, I would do so from the company I used already.
