Heey my name is Chloe and i'm new here. I've never owned or really taken interest in reptiles before but i am hoping to mabye get a turtle this summer. I'm 14 years old and iv always had animals. I've always had a cat as long as i can remember, and i just recently had 4 ratties 7 gerbils, 2 guinea pigs, 3 hamsters, a bird, a betta fish, and a dog. I now just have a cat, and a dog (border collie).
I have a few questions about Red Ear Slider turtles.....
- Could i put like little water frogs in their tank?
- How big a tank would i need for just one?
- How big do they get?
- How social are they?
- Male or Female? is there a big size differnece? is there a big personality difference?

Welcome! Frogs,fish or snails will eventually become food for the turtle. You need 10 gallons for ever inch of turtle. Ie 5 inch turtle = 50 gallon tank.
Males 8 to 10 inches females 9 to 12 inches. RES have great personilities. But are very skittish. Not much for being handled and like to hide.
Read thru the board you'll learn lots.

I have a feeling it might not be a great idea to get a turtle. They are ALOT of work and require a big investment. They are not especially cuddly and more like to be looked at or held (supported) while they are in the water.

I love my turtles but they are alot of time, money and effort. This is a great place to learn the requirements of owning a turtle. Good Luck.
