I'm a fairly new turtle owner. I've had tortoises, but never turtles. We had two (they are actually my daughter's) but one passed away on Friday, probably an RI. We tried our hardest, but being so young, I guess it was just too much for her.

Sally, the one we still have, seems to be doing good. She is very small though, about the size of an Oreo. I have no idea about their history because my grandpa bought them from someone selling turtles on the side of the road (he has a bad habit of picking up animals this way.) In any case, we're trying to take good care of Sally and she's a fun addition to our family.

Here's a few picture of Sally. :)

I think i took flipper's death harder than my daughter did since i had been playing turtle nurse for days. I suspect she may have been ill from the get go as she was never as active and friendly as sally. It was tough to watch, and i wont soon forget it. My daughter is already asking for tree frogs but kids are so much more resilient than adults in these matters.
