I thought i would introduce myself. My name is Lindsay and I bought a red ear slider when I was just a little girl. She is now a 22 year old healthy female. I love her because she has quite the personality. She has the free run of the apartment but she is most content sitting right on my warm lap. I would assume that lap turtles arnt that common, but Im deffinately in the right spot to find out!
Its actually quite a sight to see her get up on my lap. She has no problem climbing vertically between my legs, especially if im wearing loose jeans. She uses the folds on the fabric to get a good foot hold then with pure brute strength, climbs her way up by pushing on the insides of my legs. She has a pond set up by the sunroom window in the common area of the apartment that she can climb in and out of on her own and when shes not munching on greens or fruits shes basking in the full day sun. I have actually been considering getting her a friend, although I understand that these creatures dont always get along. I made a recent trip to the Humane Society and they have to many turtles that need homes to ignore. Im sure I can find one old girl out of the many they have, that will get along with Miss T. I know that a turtle would be much happier here in the sunroom pond than at the humane society stressing out.
