I've had turtles in the past. The website I made for my turtles over a decade ago is still up, you can check it here:

Unfortunately, all the turtles on that site are no longer in my care. I gave most of the babies away (caring for 13 turtles is a little much for me) and Pokey and Godzilla managed to escape from the backyard several years ago never to be found again.
At any rate, fairly recently some friends of mine gave me a turtle that they just couldn't take care of. He had some fungal growth on his shell and his shell was beginning to get soft. Since I had cared for and raised turtles in the past, I knew all the tricks and managed to get his fungus under control and his shell hardened up in no time. My friends had named him Freddy due to the long claws on his hands that resemble Freddy Krueger. He is now happily healthy and seems to be doing quite well. He enjoys incessantly swimming into the wall of the aquarium and biting at anything that moves in the close vicinity of his face. Within the past week I bought another RES to share the tank with him, and named her Fannie. Freddy and Fannie - get it? Anyway, they are both quite healthy and happy turtles.
