As they say here in Dubai, UAE. (it means 'peace be upon you' in Arabic, but people use it like hello) I've posted a couple of times but never bothered to introduce myself. So here it goes....

I have two sliders which I have had for about 6 months. They were teeny when I got them - about the size of a Dirham (aka quarter sized) but have grown to a massive 2 inches and I know will continue to grow!

I am one of those who got a cute tiny turtle without knowing at all how to care for it or how big it got or how long it lived so am now trying my best to make sure I do it right - hence my research on this fantastic site.

I am currently trying to convince my husband that it would be a good idea to build an outdoor pond for them to live so they have loads of space and get some natural sunlight. We will see how that goes....

Thanks all!

1 pleco that I hope they don't eat

Very cool! Glad to have you here. An outdoor pool would be great because you guys don't have a winter with below zero temps and snow.

Are you in Dubai City or in the general emirate?

I am the city. No, freezing not so much a concern here!! I think the bigger issue is overheating. Still, have to convince the husband that it is a good idea!

Welcome. Keep working on your husband. It sounds like you're in a very good place for a pond. :D
