Post Posted: Sat Apr 19, 2008 7:20 am   Hey Guys.

I feel bad. I got my first turtles when I was just in the 3rd grade, and I got some bad information. 20 years later both of my first turtles have passed on . And I have two new ones one of them is 6 and one is just out the pet shop, Tonight for some reason I was looking on line for something , and I saw how wrong I was doing things. It makes me sad that my turtles were not as happy as they could have been with me. This time I am asking all the questions and making sure that they are happy. So you guys get ready because I am going to be asking a lot of questions .

All my turtles have been RES.

Hi~! I'm new here.. from your stories sound so sad..

Before this I also have 4 sliders but all died because I dunno how to take care them and maybe they are to small with high sensitivity to live. huhuhu...

But I manage to take care 2 sliders after all the 4 dead.. now I have big Totto (male) 1 and half year and Totti (female) 6 month. So happy having them.. :o

Don't feel bad. I think in general most people don't know the proper care for a res, before we found this forum, my wife and I were guilty as well. We all tend to trust the pet shops and vendors who we purchased or adopted them from that they know what they are talking about. I know many people who buy hatchlings from China Town 2 for 8 dollars and the vendors tells them they'll be fine in the little critter keepers with 1 inch of water forever.

The important thing is that now you are getting the knowledge to properly care for them. I've only been a RES owner for 2.5 months. I still learn something new everyday, I still find out that something I thought I was doing right was wrong.

I just still feel so bad. I was told to do that I do by a teacher when I was in the 3 grade. So I am just thinking they spent all those years unhappy. And it well e a while before I get the cash to fix everything up real nice for them.
Please excuse any spelling and/or grammatical errors. I'm dyslexic.I do my best!
