Hi everyone,

I just joined yesterday. I was doing a search on RES and this site popped up. :D

Im proudly owned by 2 RES: Male - Pookie, Female - Pebbles.

Pookie was in a very bad situation, very very small and no basking area, dirty food etc. A friend rescued him and gave him to me. He wasnt doing well at all and would eat etc he couldnt even swim. :(

It was recommened I get another turtle to teach Pookie to be a turtle. So I got Pebbles. They are both doing great. Growing swimming in a 55 gallon tank with my 2 algea eaters Hoover & Humphrey. :D

I also have 3 dogs and 2 cats and a betta fish. (never a dull moment at my house lol)

Hope to learn more about my sweet babies!!!

Thats a interesting concept to get a turtle too teach the other one to swim and act like a turtle. What is your setup like? Pictures are always the best.

LOL thanks, it was true, it took about a couple of days of him watching Pebbles swimming, eating, getting on basking area for him to get a hang of it.

Here is a pic of my tank (55 gallon), the water level is higher now (will try to get some pics this weekend).

There is a basking area on the left side. Water log on the right side. I had some fake plants in there but can't keep them from getting dislogged and floating to top, so am working on an idea to keep them down lol.
And you can see Hoover and Humphrey hanging out too lol

There are round river rock on bottom, bubbles for them to float on, both of them love to do that.

This is Pebbles floating on the bubbles, she has gotten bigger since I took this pic.

Hi and welcome! It's good that you saved Pookie from a bad situation. I've read a suggestion on how to keep the plastic plants from floating. Attach them to a mat or a large rock using aquarium silicon and they will stay down! I'm planning on getting some plants and trying that out here soon.

oh thanks for the idea. My turtles are both very curious so would shift the rocks around and up go the plants.

Do you know where I can get that??

Hello and welcome. Nice-looking turtles. :D

I've been using aquarium silicone (you can get it at any aquarium shop, even Walmart) to attach the bases of plastic plants to flat rocks to anchor them down for a while now, and it really works well (both the turtles and I can rearrange when we want to).
