Hello! I have been looking for a site to get some inforamtion on. Back in Septemeber we saved our turtle now named Speedy from one of those island tanks. :( He went into a 20 Long. I loved that tank but since then he is ready to move on up. We thought about going to a 55 but venturned into 100. After three weeks of trying to set it up it seems like it is done. It has been a nightmare i am looking forward for him to go in there tomorrow. Not sure how to insert picture of tank or him but I am glad to be here. We are trying his two minnows overnight to make sure all is well. I am glad to find this site and look forward to talking to everyone :D [/img]

Wow that's a nice big tank! My turtle is jealous :D You might want to rethink the gravel, turtles will sometimes eat it leading to impaction and possible death. Who knows why they do it, but they do sometimes and it's really not worth the risk. It's a lot easier to keep the tank clean without a gravel bottome anyway.

Gorgeous tank! I agree with Octpusgirl- the gravel should probably be taken out. I have a 75 gallon & its hard enough to keep the bottom clean without any substrate in it!! Good luck!!

You don't have to talk me out of the gravel my husband is insisting we keep it. He has even found me taking scoops out and hiding it in the garage. I don't really like the gravel just because of the cleaning bit. I did think of the eating but he seems not to do that. I did buy big gravel but not really sure if it is always going to be big enough. If he does grow.
