Hi there everyone =]

My name is Nikki and I am 16 years old.
My boyfriend and I recently purchased two red-eared sliders. Their names are Pedule and Doris. We have had them for a couple of months now and they have already grown enormously.

I was surprised when we bought the turtles at how much care they required. I was pretty ignorant thinking they were just like goldfish. They were sort of an impulse buy. We were at the pet store and my boy saw the turtles and liked them. So we bought a very large tank (I'm not sure of it's exact measurements but it's a very large glass tank with a built in sunning platform) and a heater, UV light, filter, plants, which they keep eating, gravel and food.

We are pretty pleased with our new pets. They are getting more used to people. They no longer scurry away when someone approaches the tank and they will watch everything going on around them. They will let people handle them too and do not withdraw their heads anymore. They are very energetic swimmers and are big eaters!

Turtles take more care then I expected but they are worth it. They might not be cuddly like a Kitten or puppy but they are intelligent creatures and very rewarding in their own way :)

Hey Nikki! My name is Deanne, and I'm about 15. I just registered today..so I'm new. I also have 2 turtles who sound a lot like yours. I have a hugeeeee tank (50 gallons). And I think it's too big. I would really like to see a picture of your tank. Is everything really built in?

I'd love to hear back from you =]
Bye!
