My name is Courtney and I am the happy owner of my new RES, Elliot. I just got him today at my local Petsmart where he was well cared for. Though I think I took him from his lady love. At the moment I only have time for one, but maybe someday soon....when I can handle the possibility of little RES.

He's currently getting the lay of the land so to speak - I'm sure it'll take a little time to get him used to his new digs. Plus we want to get him some more fun stuff for his new home, but also dd not want to overkill/over stimulate his home. My boyfriend owns an african tree frog, so you see we like different pets. (No worries the frog has her own home)

Looking forward to "meeting" everyone and talking anout our turtles!!

Greetings and welcome to the forum. You'll have to show us pictures so we can see how cute Elliot is. And of his new home too. Maybe we can make suggestions on your new setup.

You are very wise to stop with one RES until you get a feeling for what it's like to take care of one. They don't really care for the company of other turtles so you don't have to worry that he'll be lonely. In fact, a lot of times two turtles kept in the same aquarium start to fight and have to be separated.

I'll get pictures of him once he's at my house....currently he's chilling out at my boyfriends in his tank near the African tree frog....he'll be home tonight.
