Hello everyone. I love the photos that are posted on this site and all the information.

Just wanted to tell you how lucky I am to have these 2 incredible pets. (Ok 3, my dog is great also!)

I Have 2 RES. My girl was a rescue turtle from the Los Angles California area.
Animal control officers told me that they just seized an illegal turtle breeding ring that they have been investigating for a long time.
Long story short I managed to rescue a girl RES.
She is 8 ½” and was one of very few adults they seized that was able to be adopted.
When I first got her she was in pretty good health, very anti social she would not bask and just sat there.
She always turned away when you came to her tank, just nibble at her food and would only really do anything if it was quiet or at night time when you went to bed.

Fast forward to today almost a year has gone by.
She is not the same turtle as she once was. You can tell she is still shy and she still tries to bite a lot. She does not like to be held at all.
Now She Basks, eats and swims laps, sleeps and eats some more. She is a very active and will sometimes come to the top of the water when you come over. The days of her hiding from you are few and far between

My other little one is a boy and he is 5 1/2 “
Someone found him walking across the grass at an airport in San Diego California. He is a Great looking healthy little turtle. I have had him for almost 6 months.
I put him in the tank with my Girl. At First she Nipped and chased and pushed him around But after a few days they started to get along.

They now are attached at the hip. They sleep, bask and eat together. They stand on each other and chase fish for each other. They both seam very happy together. Together they have a personality that make you laugh. I like to just sit on the floor and watch them.

I have them in a 125 Gallon tank that is 6 foot long and is foot 2 foot wide. It has white river rock, plants, floating turtle log that they play on. They bask on a built up basking area made out of green slate with a basking light.
I have 2 under the cabinet filters a Fluval 305 and a Fluval 405.

The tank also has about 80 Minnows and 15 gold fish. The fish are for treats if they can catch them, but the goldfish are getting pretty big.
The fish like to hide behind the rocks when the terrible two go into hunt mode! I have found the minnows also to be helpful in keeping the tank clean

I will get pictures soon.
Just wanted to tell you about my rescue story and my 2 incredible turtles

Great story! All turtles should be so lucky.

Sounds like your tank is a lot bigger than 125. I have a 125 and it's about 4ft long by 2 wide...

Welcome to the site :-)
