hey...i am new here but my friend has told me all about the site. i have 2 RES named speedy and scooter. i will try to post pictures later! :)
well more about myself and my turtles....my name is heather and i am 13 years old...i live in minnesota. i got my turts from a little pet shop. i felt really bad for them because the dude has like 30 of theem in a 10 gallon tank. i decided that i was brave enough to take ont he task of 2 baby turtles. they love their new house better then the crowded 10 gal. they are getting better and better by letting me come up to them when i watch them bask. they have mostly everthing they need i think. i am still decideing if i should get a heater for the winter. the winters in minnesota are pretty harsh so you never know..... they are very pretty! they are both about 1.5 inchhes and very GREEN! i have read about every website on the internet about red ear sliders!...hah well i am gonna go...bye!:)

help me decide if i should get a heater for my turtles or not...thank you soo much!

A heater is a necessity in mn. For hatchlings you want the water to stay a constant 77-80F, and ambient room temperature alone cannot do that in the winter.

Greetings and welcome to the forum!

I agree with the other folks about a water heater. They aren't very expensive and, as someone on here said, they are about the best preventive medicine money can buy. Chilly turtles are suseptible to infection.

Anyway, we'd love to see photos of your turts and setup!
