Post Posted: Sun Jul 22, 2007 2:15 am   Aloha here...

Just saying hello to everyone out there.
I am a very very new red-eared slider owner. I have had 2 red-eared sliders since January. When I got them, they were just about an 1-1/2 big. They seem to be doing well. I love them!!!
I am hoping to learn as much as I can from everyone here!!

Hi! I am new to the forum, too. It will be fun to chat about our sliders. I have had two since 09/30/06....one male and one female. So far, they are doing well. I nursed the male back to health in February! I thought I would lose him. I got them as hatchlings. Yours are a bigger than mine I think.

well.....technically....these turtles are my daughter's. that's why they have names like Genevieve and Elena. (from Barbie 12 Dancing Princesses & Fairytopia).

But i feed them, take care of them, clean their tank, etc etc etc. and they're adorable!

It must be easier to care for your sliders in the warm climate. I am in New York State and our winters are rough. My sliders made it through, but I worry that the weather change will affect them.

i guess so. but where i live, the turtles got cold at night and it rains a lot. the water temp wasnt above 65. the little guys were so lethargic. so i had to get the heater. but they're pretty zippy and happy now.
