 I just aquired a red ear slider from a friend who is moving out of state and was wondering if anyone knew if he/she could share the tank with other aquatic critters. I have some dwarf frogs in my fish tank and wondering if they would be able to share the turtle tank withwith the slider? anyone have any experience with this

Turtles will eat quite a lot of things. I wouldn't put the frogs around your turtle at all, but I could be overly paranoid. How big is your new slider?

Yea watching turtles devour frogs is not nice, especially because they kind of rip them apart while they're alive. Plus, they're a lil toxic.

Speaking of tankmates, I think I have to take my mollies and my pleco out of my baby turtle tank; Baby Timmy eats EVERYTHING. I mean, he'll go after the molly food and the pleco tablets and sit there looking all innocent when I catch him with a tablet in his mouth! It's not like I don't feed the guy, either.

So I guess I'll have to put together a fish tank and keep the turtle to himself. Little fat piggy self.

Maybe I could get those frogs you were talking about for my new tank since I won't have a deadly predator in it.

If you keep your turtle well fed and provide a lot of hiding spots, driftwood, pvc pipe, and fake plants you may be able to keep fast fish in with your turtle. Out of a dozen feeder minnow I buy usually 2-3 are still around after a month or two. I have a giant danio that has lasted for nearly 6 months now.

the only thing that has lasted in my tank would be my pleco, one coi and 4 feeder gold fish that are now about 3in sad but my turtles do not like the feeder gold fish. rosie red on the other hand i put 12 in and with in 24 hours my turtles take them all out.

Seems Guarami's are alright with turts.. Just have to boost upthe filtration a bit.. I currently have a (up to) 100 gallon Penplax canister filter and a FX5. I also have 2 of those needlenose algae eaters (small) and the turts dont mess with them. Guess its the demener of the turt! All my guys have lived with fish in the tak since they where hatchlings.
