Hi all,
My RES apparently don't like their water heater: they keep trying to bite it.
Has anyone experienced this behavior? Can I offer them something to distract them, that they can play with?
Thanks!!
Aileen

Make sure the electrical cord is well protected. Is this a glass heater? You can put tank decorations around it to discourage this, some people have made heater protectors out of s pvc pipe.

Hi duck

No, it's not a glass heater. The cord is fine, they don't even care about that ...

Mine like to crash into it. I'm glad they're not biting the cord, though it can usually be angled so it's not in the tank. Maybe try some fake decorations like devilduck said.

If you're not seeing chunks of the heater in the water I wouldn't worry about it. Your turtle's just curious, hopefully he's give up on it after he figures out its not good to eat.
