A weird thing has happened since bringing Ethel inside because of the weather. She (and Fred) had always (since around 2007) lived with a striped/raphael/talking catfish and have generally left it alone. It's always hidden in the caves and hides available in the tank. Fred passed away just before I was finished building the outdoor enclosure so Ethel (call me crazy) has been kind of lonely. She's been palling around with the catfish. They swim around the tank together, the catfish hangs out on the dock, they share veggies at feeding time. It's weird!
