Guess who now has two new turtles, one six months, one twelve months.

Yep.
Me.

... my husband is going to be perturbed. Perturtbed?
My sister's been wanting a reason to start a pond; these two just might be it. I didn't get the tank with them because it was cracked, and so I have them in a large Rubbermaid container outside (with water and rock) until I can get them checked out for pondworthiness / non-contagion / health. Oy, why can I not help myself with this kind of thing? OH YEAH, because I know what happens to unwanted turtles that just get dumped into our park ponds - and I can't let that happen to any turtles that I can save.

Also I might be addicted.

Thanks!
I've got them in a large wading pool so I can make sure they're healthy and eating and all that. Poor guys had been stuck in a small tank for their entire lives - this wading pool is probably very different! (I managed to get off a couple of questions to the guy who handed them over, but he was reluctant to talk to me and kept moving back towards the garage. I think he might have been giving away his kids' turtles and didn't want them to see me or something. But hey, now they'll be loved and cared for and loved and loved and loved, so whatever.)
