I have two very beautiful turtles. Romeo, an african side neck, I got him recently so he doesnt quite trust me yet. And Bullwinkle, a Red ear slider who tries to break his tank to get to see me... I am 88% sure they are both male. Bullwinkle's claws are long, but because Romeo doesnt trust me im not to sure and dont want to stress him out while finding out... The guy we bought him from said male but Bullwinkle is on top of him alot so... I dont know if its domonance bc we've had Bullwinkle for 2 1/2 years and just got Romeo or if it is Breeding.. Is it even possible for those two turtles to breed?!

Bullwinkle: 5 1/4 year old 5 1/2 in RES
Romeo: 2 year old African sideneck 4 in x 2 1/2 in

Here's how to tell: http://www.redearslider.com/determining_sex.html

They might mate but I don't think they can actually breed.

So, is it the same thing for the african sideneck? Like with the claws and tail thing... Bcuz Romeo will let me see his claws which r really short and sharp, but not its tail.

The tail feature is the same, not sure about the claws.

It would be best to post a photo of the african sideneck's tail, and anal notch. To a novice, the tail of both males and females can look fairly similar. It is extremely unlikely that they will mate, and impossible that any viable eggs would come from it. What size tank are you keeping them in, and how deep is the water. Also, which species of african sideneck? Some can be extremely aggressive, and not wise to keep with other turtles.
