I have a tiny res turtle, he is around the same size of a betta fish and i doubt he would even be able to bite it. I have a heater and I would really love a fish with my turtle once my other baby turtle passed away (drowned). :(.
anyways the tank looks empty, i was wondering if it would be ok? thanks!

The RES would eventually eat it :(

No. Don't do that. Bettas have long flow-y fins - even the stress of the filter current would be too much for the poor thing. Plus you RES will either eat it, or slowly rip its fins. If your tank looks empty, just buy some feeders such as minnows - they're 12 cents each at the petstore.

I stumbled upon this thread actually just surfing and i've actually got a bit of a contradiction to this. i've got 3 baby cooters, 2 corries, 7 guppies, and 2 bettas one male and one female, all in one tank set up. the turtles only go for the guppies. even in when they were in my other tank with another corrie a ton more guppies 2 swordtails and 2 moons a loach and a puffer fish they were fine. my male betta is actually pretty buddy buddy with my more timid turtle. though i do have a weird betta which is non-agressive. O.o. but they swim side by side constantly. and when my loach took a nip at my betta, his turtle buddy chased down the loach and took a nip at his tail than swam back to the betta. i really think it depends on the animals personalities really.
