Other Turtle Discussion :: How long will it take my female to lay her eggs?

We recently rescued a RES from the busy highway & have her with our other turtles in our outside pond. Whenever it rains she manages to escape. We have found her each time. This time she had begun to burrow in the flower bed. We realized she must be trying to lay eggs so we have left her there all day. Does anyone know how long it will take her to finish laying eggs? Also is it ok for her to be out of the water for long periods of time? Any experience will be appreciated.

Is she digging with her hind legs or just burying herself? She can be out for long periods of time as long as she's not in direct sunlight and is not vulnerable to any predators.
