Other Turtle Discussion :: best filter for 20gal tank?

i got 2 baby res turtles. there 20 gal tank has white sand dock and 2 filter. i got one fluval u1 filter and the other one is Zoo Med Turtle Clean Filter 318. the water is about 3inch inside the tank i dont fill it up all the way since there babys still. and i wanna upgrade the Zoo Med Turtle Clean Filter 318 to a better underwater filter. any ideas which one. must be underwater one cuz i cant sleep with the noise.

I would probably opt for a cheap hang-on-tank filter (like an AquaClear) and save the money for the eventual upgrade.

Does it make noise tho. Cuz I can't sleep when water is makIng nOise . Plus I work in the morning so I need sleeP

Yes, it'll make noise without a full tank.

would a fluval u4 be a great filter if lay it down on the floor. and i got the sand for my ground of the tank

It can't rest on the floor or it will suck up sand. It's also an expensive filter, I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Not if it's working for you. There are some low end canisters out there but you would probably need to have close to a full 20 gallons.

i had 4inches of water for my 2 baby res turtles now i add 2 more inches so its 6 inches of water is that okay? they have a turtle dock 4 land

What are your upgrade plans and budget for this?

Well my turtle come first before me. So there no limit 4 them. But I'm keeping them in a 20gal tank until they get bigger
