is there any way to tell exactly how old a turtle is if you adopt it? i've had mine for a year as of mother's day. he was about the size of a quarter when i bought him. now he's about 2 inches. also, what's the "normal" growth rate for a res?

Since you say your turtle was the size of a quarter when you got him that means he probably was only couple days old to 2 weeks old. So you are right he probably is around the year mark.
What are you feeding him? He should probably be a little bigger then 2inches.
