I was driving on a dirt road in the "sticks" part of town and immediatly noticed a small/medium sized turtle in the middle of the road. I didn't have time to stop, so I drove over it (it was inbetween the tires) and stopped. I got out and picked him up. He seemed to be some sort of box turtle, but he was clearly headed to a water source. I didn't want to drop him in the water for fear he couldn't swim, so I put him a few inches from it. Immediatly, he ran right into the water and swam away! Definitely aquatic, but his feet didn't appear webbed. His shell was hinged.

Out of every 100 men, ten shouldn't even be there. Eighty are just targets. Nine are the real fighters and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Oh, but one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back. -Heraclitus of Ephesus

What a cute looking turtle. I'm glad you stopped to pull him off the road! I stop and herd turtles off the road whenever I see them. Usually they're snappers though, and that can be... fun :P
