You can use a regular Pleco, or a pretty fancy Pleco. They all have pretty touph skin. I right now have 2 Chinese Algae Eaters in my tank and they have not gotten even close to being eaten in 2 months. I also have a White and Gold Algae Eater in side my tank with them aswell...they all do good tho

I would go with the kind that are small and skinny like the chinese or white and gold algae eater, there are a few different species like that and the yare just SO Quick, its even hard for the fish person to catch them to put them in ur bag :D plus thtye look really pretty when they get big.

I have a pleco. If your turtle is small then it probably won't even touch it because their skin is tough (I felt it before). They're really fast too. I wouldn't go with a Chinese algae eater because they're said to get aggressive when they get over 4'' and stop eating algae when they're introduced to commercial fish foods.

Plecos get pretty big bro. If I were you then I would try to get a clown pleco, I think they grow only to 6 inches. I think I read somewhere that others can go up to 12 inches, sometimes even 24.

it says they can get up to 20". so i am weary. but i only rly expect one to survive if that. but the more i think about this there is no winning.
chinese or other algae eaters get rly mean
plecos get big
clown plecos r expensive and could end up being food

Clown Plecos are 4 dollars. Anyways, I bought both my plecos for 3 dollars each and since your turtle is only 2.5'' inches then it probably won't end as food for a long time. You can also buy some chemical algae remover.

I got my 2 Chinese Algae Eaters for like 3.99$ and the Gold and White Algae Eater for like 2.99$ and they dont even get bothered by my turtles cuz they already know there too fast to be caught...

Pickle ate both plecos I put in his tank when he was still small. After an incident I had with a Goldfish attempting to swallow an Otocat and getting the spike stuck in his throat I became leary of keeping any plated fish with anything that might try and eat them.
