Umm.. has anyone ever heard of these sponge/foam toys

where you put them in water and they expand to nearly 5x their size

They come it a variety of animals..seahorses..starfish...crabs...

so i was thinking if they would be safe to put in my aquarium?

some people may think they are tacky but i like them and i think it would look cool

ive seen those before i had them. butt hey began to decay and break apart and decompose in the water which was kinda nasty lol

it would look cool but be careful. it might be harmful to the turtles

Those just look like the little foam things you play with. I would not put those in a turtle tank what so ever, they would try to eat it most likely and im sure it would hurt the turtles/fish

I loved those things when I was a kid (I still do) but I don't think they would be safe for an aquarium. They are are kinda slimy and make the water gross, and are probably harmful if they are eaten. They make all kinds of figures especially for aquariums, I would stick with those.

Ya know, you could get ping pong balls. Your turtle(s) will love them.

You can get one of those tunnels, seashells, and anything they will be able to pick up and move around.

You would have to check the packaging too, sponge products made with cellulose are not supposed to be used in aquariums for some reason. I have a bunch of hard plastic dinosaur figures that I bought from a toy store and they look awesome. Had them in the water for 6 months and they haven't seemed to cause any adverse effects. Plus they sink! Those foam thingys would float.

So if the product is not made with cellulose its ok?

No, they may be full of toxic dyes and other chemicals too. I'm just saying for some reason cellulose sponges shouldn't be used in aquariums (according to my pack of cellulose based sponges).
