Mississippi Map Turtle is 8 times more expensive than RES at my place, while Common Painted Turtle is 14 times more expensive, are they worth buying?

Idk abbout the map. I think res are neater but a painted turtle is very colorful. I think they are worth it. I would buy a western if you can get one. There very colorful and just get nicer as they grow.

I have a RES and a Mississippi Map
Personality wise they are very different.
RES is like a dignified middle aged lady (until she sees food)
Map is like a naughty toddler (always in trouble but very hard to get annoyed with)
I think having the two is great providing you can keep them separate.
What I would say on the cost is that you need to think total cost of ownership.
I rescued a RES from a park and a Mississippi Map before it was released in a park. Therefore they were free! (apart from lights, extra tank, food, filters, thermometers, filter media, electricity, vets bills, heater, basking platform etc. etc.)
So if you look at the costs over say 10 years of ownership the purchase price really is insignificant. Therefore I suggest you decide which one you want and spend the extra money.

Can hardly find YBS at my place, but RES, GTT & RT is all around... I'm from Malaysia, RES is around 10 Ringgit Malaysia, which is around 3 USD, cheap huh~ XD so, tat map is RM80, while painted is RM140...
I already have a Golden Thread Turtle, RES & a baby Reeves Turtle ( Slightly more than 1 Inch only) having UVB Lighting, basking lamp, and a small tank, 60Gal, will be upgrade around June...
Actually my aim is to get as much turtle from different kind as i can, Bigger tank will be provided...

Maps are very sensitive to their environment, from what I hear. I wish I knew more...
I have a duel miss. map/RES hybrid, but I haven't learned a thing about maps from her. She doesn't exhibit any typical RES traits either. She's literally like a whole new species.

I got a Mississippi and I like him very much. Always begging for food by splashing the water around.

I have two Mississippi map
Even with a canister they still get some fungus =0
Maybe it's just my tank , placing outdoor which eventually leads to algae madness
And Algae is very dirty when they rot
So i think when i replied this post you have your map already right?
Then if can prepare some nasty powerful filtration for them =D
