What kind of fish are safe to put in the tank with my RES? I don't want to put something in there that will hurt him. Any ideas?

I have him with small fish - guppies, minnows, neons...etc. He eats one now and then though. But it makes the tank look pretty. But just an FYI... anything you put in with your turtle has a very high chance of getting eaten - not necessarily right away, but eventually.

Stick with fast fish, usually just ask the people at the pet store to show you most of the "Faster" fish they have to offer and im sure they can. some fish are SUPER fast compared to others and turtles give up if they don't think there worth wile...

I hear that fish will help to keep the tank clean. Is that true?

It depends on how many there are. They'll eat some of the leftover food, but they, in turn, will produce their own waste and add to the bioload of the tank.

Yeah they do add there own little good amount of poop but I think it is so worth it having fish. they clean up just about anything ranging from pellets, veggies, fruits, MEAT.... Goldfish will eat Meat if its small little pieces like turtles like to leave behind :P I usually buy about 35 gold fish a week or so and just throw them in there with my 3 res, a lot of them last for about 3 days before they start getting low in numbers if you know what I mean. I still have some from last week and the week before that tho, like 2 or 3 from each batch usually survive...the fast ones :D

Angel fish are a pretty expencive fish to be putting in a turtle tank. they are really big too so i bet they would get eated the same day they were put in the tank.

If you want a algae eater get a Chinese Algae Eater. Make sure to get a small one tho because when they get bigger they can get pretty mean Ive been told. I have 2 in my tank and there so quick the turtles dont even try anymore lol

dont use gold fish tho. sinister you should stop using them. they r high in protein and fat and require a lot of filtration bc they r probably one of the messiest fresh water fish out there. they r not good for ur turtle. if u want to go a cheap feeder route stick to guppies, rosy red minnows, mollies r cool if u can breed them.
