I have year old southern painted turtles and my friend has year old RES.
My painteds are twice the size of her RES, how can that be if RES are suppose to get bigger?

Depends on if there Female or Male and all turtles are different sizes. Some Females get way huger then other females while some Males are alot smaller then other Males, RES or Painted.

It could be bigger "for now".All depends on how much you are feeding yours and she is feeding hers.The more you feed a turtle, the sooner it will grow. It's not healthy and not recommended.
On average the RES with outgrow the SPT, and like the previous poster mentioned depends on the sex of the animals and individual traits.

Your painteds will come to stop growing very fast. Southern Painteds are a very small type of turtle. The res will more then double its size in the future. The res will catch them eventually that is for sure.
