Are there any places (in Canada toronto area) that you can get other types of turtles instead of red ear sliders? my friend found has these 2 very nice turtles. He told me the were map turtles, and he also found them... and he also told me not to talk too much about them (you can guess why ). I don't want to spend time looking for one, cause i think my friend just got really lucky but yeah.. any suggestions?

The best turtles to get would probably be ones that are native to your area. Since turtles have high maintenance requirements, are you sure you can handle more?

By find them do you mean, in the wild or in a store? I don't understand why someone would you want to take an animal out of the wild and make it a pet if its not sick or severely injured.

Thanks for pointing that out, I guess I didn't read it clearly. Wild animals should never be taken from their habitats just a pets should never be released into the wild.

If you're talking about buying one it could be difficult. I did see a hatchling map once but I think it was a mistake and got mixed up in the store's order for res. Finding anything other than res here in Canada is tricky. I was on a waiting list for I think 6 months for my box turtle.

The Big Al's in my area have had maps for a while but they are going for $49.99 each.

Maps (especially the caglis are expensive costing to about $150) can come in pretty pricey.
