Be careful with melafix for bettas. There has been a lot of talk of it killing bettas. The company itself came out with Betafix which is a diluted form of melafix.

Thanks! We just went to the petstore and left empty handed. Going to Petsmart soon..blah. Ill see if they have it. I have been found 20% water changes every other day. He's much more active. Color is still paler than id like but I just have to be patient. I went ahead and took the plants out just because it was a pain to keep taking them.up to vac the gravel

When in doubt do a water change. That's what the fish forums say. Clean water can heal a lot of things without chemicals. You do need to dechlorinate for fish though. There are a lot of Betta forums out there. Good Luck!

It would be the same thing but do you know the proper dosage? I'm really not sure how strong it needs to be to kill the betas. I know from fish forums though that a lot of people have claimed it killed their betas at the recommended strength suggested on the bottle.

The aquarium salt has worked wonders. His fins have started growing back and his color is getting better. His mood was betterafter too. Ill hold off on chemicals unless he gets sick again and in that case ill do some research
